                    Who am I?

I am a DONA certified Birth Doula.  I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota with my husband and our 2 kids. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Spanish and Latin American studies.  I love living in Minneapolis and taking advantage of all the city has to offer.  I walk and bike on the Grand Rounds daily, swim in many of the 10,000 lakes, enjoy snowboarding on the local ski hills, and love spending time at our cabin up north.

                    Why I became a doula

When I was growing up, I didn't want to have babies because I was afraid of the pain.  Specifically, I was afraid of getting an epidural.  I just figured that was a part of the birth process.  Your water breaks, you go to the hospital, you get your epidural, you lay there in bed and push your baby out with your feet in the stirrups, then they take the baby away to the nursery where you go visit through a pane of glass.

It never occurred to me there was any other way to do it.  When I became pregnant, I started researching all I could about pregnancy and childbirth and realized how many different options there are.

Your birth experience is something that you will have for the rest of your life.  You will always remember it.  I believe that you can have your best birth whether you chose to give birth with or without medication, by induction, C-section or VBAC, whether your birth takes place in a hospital, a birth center, or your home.

I want to make sure that women understand all of their options in order to make well informed decisions.  That way, they can always have a great birth experience that will positively effect who they become as a parent.
